As the release of the v1.34 open beta draws closer, I will be releasing a series of galactic-level faction previews. We’re starting today with the GALACTIC EMPIRE!
This Imperials have been completely reworked in this release:
Their roster is absolutely gigantic, allowing a huge range of new fleet composition styles
They have a new leadership mechanic that will be the basis for a wide range of ‘what if’ scenarios, allowing huge replayability potential in future releases
They have brand new space stations
Exciting new and rebuilt storylines (with more still to come)
Cool features like naval infantry that can be built from space
New land units, including a brand new Droid factor that produces new droid land units for the Empire
and exciting new gameplay systems to replicate the attrition of their forces in the years after Endor…
…and much more besides. Not least of which is the huge variety of Star Destroyer squadron loadouts now available. (See below for a full rundown!)
Today’s preview focuses on showing off their roster, which consists of dozens and dozens of new units and loadout variants. These vary across eras, depending on the leader you start with or choose, and according to other gameplay factors. I’ve tried to make all of this as accessible as possible via the newly rebuilt tooltips.
Today’s video focuses on the Pellaeon era, in 17 ABY. While nearly finished, it is still a work in progress. Some of the material will be tweaked, and a small number of units will have their availability tweaked from what you can see below. But a lot of fun is coming your way…
