Incoming! Age of Legends v1.33: The Ground War is OUT NOW
Land battles have been completely rebuilt in this thrilling update, with aerial dogfights, long-range artillery duels and hardy infantry!
If you’ve been wondering why it’s been quiet here for the last few months, this is why… I bring you a total rebuild of land combat in Age of Legends, out now on Steam!
Take to the skies with brand new aerial combat, as fighters, bombers, gunships, transports and airspeeders fight to maintain air superiority. You can find out more about aerial combat (with a roster for all factions) in this post.
Infantry - who were basically useless before - are now a core part of your land forces. As subscribers know, they now come in various different subtypes: light, line, assault, special forces, operatives and so on, each with their own role. They’ve been completely rebalanced - you can read more about that here.
Gone are the days of auto-resolving every tedious land battle: everything is different now. You have to control multiple domains of battle: use artillery to fire across the entire map, dispatch K-wings to devastate enemy bases, construct field shield generators to hunker down from enemy bombardments. Land has never felt so fresh.
But that’s not all: every single faction has gained new infantry and aerial units, with dozens of new unit types added across the mod. Thanks to Petroglyph’s latest patch the build bar now accommodates vast unit rosters: and Age of Legends is taking full advantage of those exciting possibilities.
It really is new units galore, from Viper-class Probe Droids (fans of the N64 ‘Rogue Squadron’ will feel right at home!) to ISB Tactical Units, the 501st of the Empire of the Hand or the incredible superiority fighters of the Expanded Universe: the Alpha-class StarWing, the E-wing, Coralskipper and dozens more.
Meanwhile the battlefield itself is different: I’ve added 100+ new land maps to the mod. You won’t find yourself staring at the same recycled land maps anymore.
