Age of Legends' 2025 updates are going to blow your mind...
The Galaxy will never be the same: everything you need to know about Age of Legends in 2025! [FREE POST]
Dear reader,
Titanic land battles, customisable unit skins and cosmetics, building your own crime empire, gorgeous new space units, NEW immersion systems, all that and more in 2025!
Happy New Year! Welcome to 2025 and a special FREE message for all subscribers to the Essential Guide and Age of Legends players.
I’m making this one-off post free so that everybody can see the type of content paid subscribers get regularly (usually every week) and all of the hugely exciting plans I have for Age of Legends in 2025!
Paid subscribers make all of this possible, so if you want to support the mod, please do consider becoming a paid subscriber for just $5 a month or $45 a year.
January’s TOTAL IMMERSION content pack
Brilliant land combat, a new Mandalorian campaign, beautiful new ship models, escape pods, ejector seats, a restored feature from vanilla…
At the end of 2024 the Age of Legends team (which has been just me since 2017!) expanded to include the amazing Ty and Spy Lake Walker. Their work includes beautiful new ship models and a really exciting overhaul to land combat.
The first release of 2025 will be as soon as this month (exact date TBC). It includes some beautiful and exciting new ships like Spy’s CR-92a Assassin…
… and the FarStar and NightCaller. More on those here. There’s also a lot more top quality art content and new ships in this pack.
An article is coming out this Friday with all of the new models featured in this content pack, so keep an eye out for that. That article will be exclusive for paid subscribers, so don’t forget to subscribe if you want to see all of it. It has some really exciting stuff.
This pack includes the innovative Escape Pod…
… and Ejector Seat immersion systems.
As well as the brand new Infinities campaign focusing on a ‘what-if’ war between the New Republic and a resurgent Mandalorian Empire.
It is also restoring a feature from the vanilla game that had to be removed when Forces of Corruption inadvertently broke it. I’m really excited about that - more on that soon.
Plus we have Ty’s magnificent land overhaul. It is stunning. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had playing land combat. In combines the vehicular combat of Force Commander with the aerial battles of Rogue Squadron, while making infantry matter. I’m going to post a full article about that next week with an extended video preview. That will be exclusive to paid subscribers.
This is just the start. Once this comes out I have at least two additional releases planned for this year…
The Age of Crime
Four NEW playable Hutt factions, plus Black Sun and the Invids…
This is the big ticket item for 2025. Because this year you’re going to get the chance to play as your favourite (non-Soprano) crime boss!
The existing Hutt Cartel faction is being split into multiple playable factions, representing the major Hutt Kajidics (or crime families). These will be the Desilijic, Besadii, Anjiliac and Quunalac. Each will have a unique playstyle and roster.
Hutt Space will be fully populated with planets, giving each of these crime families their own canonical domains and letting them vie for dominance with each other. The successful Kajidic will become the official Hutt Cartel faction and gain control over Nal Hutta and Nar Shaddaa, and gain access to the Hutt fleet.
This pack is also slated to include the Invid pirate gang and Black Sun as playable factions.
Cosmetics and custom skins
In-game ship skins and cosmetic options for fleet and unit customisation…
After a really popular article in which paid subscribers could vote on which Galactic Alliance Star Destroyer skin would appear in the mod…
… and the vote went right down to the wire, I decided to find a way to include all of them.
Empire at War might not be a modern AAA game (and that isn’t a complaint!) but I did want to bring one triple-A feature to the mod. Namely, a skin system!
I’m going to post a full article on this once it is implemented - but the basic idea is that you build a unit, let’s say a Republic-class heavy cruiser, and then wherever that unit is in orbit you will have a free or 1 credit ‘upgrade’ that will give the ship a new paint-job. Not every ship will have cosmetics, but my plan is that some key designs from most factions will do.
Paid subscribers get an article like this every week that is bursting with content. As you can see, there is a lot to look forward to just in the next few weeks. To get exclusive access - including the FULL back catalogue - you can subscribe today for $5 a month, or just $45 for a full year.
Thank you, and happy new year!
